A greeting card for every day featuring a romantic boulangerie in Paris. The etymology of the word is interesting because of course, the French word for bread is pain. And that bears no resemblance to boulangerie.
It turns our that the word boulangerie mean ‘ball’ and ‘bun’ and traces its meaning back to an even older word meaning to ‘swell’ or ‘inflate’. And it is related to the English word ‘bowl’ as well.
This means, of course, that in its original meaning, a boulangerie was a bun maker, or perhaps a maker of round loaves.
